Tragic Lion Attack Claims Life at Sri Venkateswara Zoo Park

A tragic incident unfolded at Sri Venkateswara Zoo Park in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, as a man lost his life in a lion attack. The victim, identified as Prahlad Gurjar from Rajasthan, met his untimely demise when he jumped into the lion's enclosure. Reports suggest that Gurjar crossed the gate and entered the enclosure, eventually leaping into the cage from the lion feeding area.

The zoo staff swiftly responded, locking the lion in a cage within the enclosure following the attack. Tirupati Rural Police were notified of the incident, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sarath Raj arrived at the scene to gather details. Initial investigations indicate that Gurjar was in an inebriated state and may not have been fully aware of his actions. Allegedly attempting to take a selfie, Gurjar's intrusion into the lion's territory led to the fatal attack.

The Sri Venkateswara Zoo in Tirupati is renowned as the largest zoo in Asia, sprawling over 1,250 acres and housing a diverse array of animal species. Positioned at the foot of the revered Lord Tirumala's shrine, the zoo attracts numerous devotees and tourists alike. However, the tragic incident has left visitors shaken, highlighting the dangers inherent in such encounters with wild animals.

The zoo authorities, along with law enforcement and forest department officials, have initiated an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols and respecting the boundaries of wildlife habitats. While zoos offer opportunities for education and recreation, they also demand vigilance and caution to prevent tragic outcomes such as this.
