Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan conceded on Thursday that his administration had
committed "a small mistake," just a day after PM Modi highlighted
that an advertisement placed in newspapers for a new ISRO facility in Tamil
Nadu featured the image of a Chinese flag.
During the
inauguration of a new ISRO facility in the southern state earlier this week,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out the error, stating, "DMK is a
party that does not work but stands ahead to take false credit. These people
paste their stickers on our schemes. Now they have crossed the limits, they
have pasted China's sticker to take credit for the ISRO launch pad in Tamil
Nadu." PM Modi criticized the DMK government led by MK Stalin, alleging
that it had disrespected India's scientists and the space sector. "They
are not ready to accept India's progress in the space sector, and with the
taxes that you pay, they give advertisements and do not even include a picture
of India's space in it. They did not want to present India's space success in
front of the world," PM Modi remarked.
Furthermore, Tamil
Nadu BJP president K Annamalai asserted that the advertisement demonstrated
DMK's allegiance to China. Following PM Modi's scathing criticism of the DMK
government, party minister Anitha Radhakrishnan admitted, "A small mistake
has been made in the newspaper advertisement," acknowledging that the
advertisement had escaped their notice.
In
response to PM Modi's comments, DMK's Wilson alleged instances of Chinese
incursions along the Line of Control, the renaming of Indian territory, and the
raising of Chinese flags. He expressed a desire for the Prime Minister to
acknowledge these occurrences as well. "The Prime Minister can see a
Chinese flag in a paper ad with hawk-eye vision, yet has turned a blind eye in
the past 10 years to reports of Chinese flags being unfurled in Indian
territory," the DMK MP wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Media reports indicate that China continues its incursions and breaches
the Line of Control unabashedly in Ladakh. In Arunachal Pradesh, satellite
images show that China continues to encroach on India's sovereign land, and it even
has the audacity to rename Indian territory and geographical elements three
times - 2017, 2021 & 2023," the DMK leader stated.
