The Paris 2024 Olympics will officially commence with a groundbreaking Opening Ceremony on the River Seine on Friday, July 26, with India set to participate in this momentous event. This ceremony marks the start of 16 days of elite competition, spanning across 32 disciplines. In an unprecedented move, the Opening Ceremony will be held outside a traditional stadium, featuring an open-air parade along a 6km stretch of the River Seine.

The parade will begin at Austerlitz Bridge and will conclude at Trocadéro, with the iconic Eiffel Tower as a backdrop. During this journey, the remaining elements of the Olympic protocol and the final shows will take place. Performers will join the delegations and passengers on the boats, enhancing the spectacle and grandeur of the event.
Athletes and Landmarks
More than 10,000 athletes from 206 countries will participate in this river tour, showcasing Parisian landmarks such as the Notre Dame Cathedral and Pont Neuf. The ceremony will also feature French President Emmanuel Macron officially opening the Games and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron with the Olympic flame. As tradition dictates, Greece will be the first nation introduced, followed by the Refugee Olympic Team.

Team GB's flag bearers will be diver Tom Daley and rower Helen Glover, who together have won three gold medals in previous Games.
