The
Dolby Theater at Hollywood & Highland was the place where the 96th Academy
Awards winners were unveiled. This year, the ceremony began earlier than usual
and was broadcasted by ABC to more than two hundred countries around the world.
Jimmy Kimmel returned for his fourth time as host of the show.
“Oppenheimer,”
received the Best Picture award. The Film bagged a total of seven awards. Christopher
Nolan was awarded as the Best Director, and Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey
Jr. respectively, emerged victorious as the Best Actor and Best Supporting
Actor for their roles in this movie. Moreover, “Oppenheimer” also brought
laurels for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing.
The
turn of events came as a surprise when Emma Stone won the Best Actress award
for her performance in “Poor Things”. This outcome was unexpected as it was
highly anticipated that Lily Gladstone, who received rave reviews for her
acting in "Killers of the Flower Moon," would be most likely the
winner.
“Poor
Things” also triumphed in three crafts divisions: Best Costume Design, Best
Production Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Da’Vine Joy Randolph was
awarded the Best Supporting Actress for her acting in “The Holdovers.”
“The
Boy and the Heron” directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Produced by Toshio Suzuki won
the Best Animated Feature, while Jonathan Glazer’s “The Zone of Interest” was
honored with the Oscar for Best International Feature. The Best Documentary was
"20 Days in Mariupol."
Billie
Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s song “What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie” has
been awarded the Oscar for Best Original Song.
In
the screenplay categories, Justine Triet and Arthur Harari won Best Original
Screenplay for “Anatomy of a Fall,” while Cord Jefferson won Best Adapted
Screenplay for “American Fiction.”
