Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut released a list of 17
candidates for Lok Sabha elections.

The party has nominated former Union minister Anant
Geete from Raigad seat and Arvind Sawant from South Mumbai seat.

The Lok Sabha Elections are scheduled to take place over
seven phases, commencing from April 19 and concluding on June 1.
On March 27, the Shiv Sena
(UBT) announced its first list of 16 candidates from Maharashtra for the
upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled across seven phases starting April 19.
Renomination of Incumbent
MPs
The party has also
renominated all five sitting MPs. Arvind Sawant, the current MP, has been
nominated to run from the South Mumbai constituency, while Amol Kirtikar has
been chosen for the Mumbai North West seat, previously held by his father,
Gajanan Kirtikar. Kirtikar's candidacy arises amid summons from the ED
regarding his alleged involvement in the Khichdi scam.
The party has nominated
former Union Minister Anant Geete, a seasoned party leader, to contest from the
Raigadh constituency, while Vinayak Raut will represent Ratnagiri.
Remaining Candidates to
Follow
Rajan Vichare will contest
from Thane, while Vinayak Raut has been granted a ticket from Ratnagiri
Sindhudurg. Sitting MPs Sanjay Jadhav (Parbhani) and Omraje Nimbalkar
(Osmanabad) have also been renominated.
Sanjay Raut mentioned that
the Uddhav Thackeray-led party intends to contest 22 seats in the general
elections, with the remaining five candidates set to be announced within a day
or two. Of the names revealed on Wednesday, 11 had been previously announced by
party Chief Uddhav Thackeray during his visit to respective Lok Sabha
constituencies in the last month.
Alliance Dynamics and
Future Releases
Discussing the alliance
with CM Eknath Shinde in the state, party leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Shewale
mentioned that Shinde-led Shiv Sena is also expected to release its initial
list of candidates in a day or two. The ruling alliance comprises Shiv Sena led
by Shinde, BJP, and Nationalist Congress Party led by Ajit Pawar.
MVA Participation and
Electoral Overview
The Uddhav Thackeray-led
party is a part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the state. MVA constituent,
NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) is yet to officially declare its candidates in the
state. However, Congress, also a part of the MVA, has announced its candidates
on some seats where there is no conflict with its alliance partners.
Maharashtra, with 48 Lok
Sabha seats, is the second-highest after Uttar Pradesh (80), and will be voting
in five phases starting from April 19.
